The closest meeting so far, to the village of Blair Atholl. While one group of four set off for a forest walk, the rest - nine in all - headed for the nearby Munro of Carn Liath, and beyond.
Remco was driving, which was appreciated, but it seems he missed breakfast.
The tedium of A9 traffic was offset by the impressive view of the morning mist.
Parked just north of Loch Moraig, Carn Liath (975m) looked equally impressive in the early sunlight.
Before reaching the path proper, the route requires avoiding or crossing a few bogs and streams. Naturally it's necessary to have a camera out at such times, in case it ends in tragedy.
There was a brief stop at the top of the first Munro, Carn Liath, before heading on towards the second.
The others didn't stop for lunch, but two decided to have lunch and then head back. Being a gentleman and not, as wicked scandal has it, a bit of a cad and bounder, Paul accompanied his companion back to the minibus. This photo was taken by another hillwalker, one who was in DURC during the late 1970s!
On the way back, there was a fine view of the ridge between the two Munros - shame there was no view on the way over.
After descending it only remained to find a bar/restaurant while awaiting the return of the others.
